Chateau Elan Winery and Resort
French country estate meets Southern hospitality — big, sprawling, and activity-packed. This is a full-service destination resort, not a boutique hideaway. Think Napa-South with conference center energy and a genuinely good spa tucked into a lakeside mansion.

Why It Matters
One of the largest and most-awarded wineries on the East Coast, with a full production winery on-site making 30+ wines. The estate underwent a $25 million renovation in 2019. Consistently recognized on Condé Nast Traveler Readers' Choice Awards (2024 and 2025). The spa lives in its own mansion with 14 overnight suites and is adults-only.
Built around its own working winery on 3,500 acres of North Georgia countryside, Chateau Elan is the kind of resort that genuinely doesn't need you to leave. The chateau itself is modeled on a 16th-century French castle — an odd but charming backdrop for vineyard walks, a serious spa, and 45 holes of championship golf. Rooms in the Inn lean into that French country estate feel: wood accents, custom headboards, and soaking tubs. But the real draw is the winery, where Italian-born chief winemaker Simone Bergese has racked up over 300 competition awards.
