Schiphol Airport
Tech-forward design hotel with a strong conceptual art identity. Think pod-hotel efficiency meets a Soho creative office. Self-service check-in kiosks, mood lighting you can dial to any color, and a canteen where laptop workers coexist with bleary-eyed transit passengers at 3 a.m.
Request a high-floor, tarmac-view room when checking in — you get a great view of planes coming and going, and reviews say soundproofing holds up well
Why It Matters
One of the first airport hotels to genuinely reframe the category — citizenM proved you can build something design-forward, affordable, and still worth recommending at a major international hub. Now part of Marriott Bonvoy, so points are on the table too.
citizenM Schiphol is 355 rooms of deliberately compact, tech-forward design sitting a genuine 4-minute walk from Arrivals Hall 4. The rooms are small — around 14 sq.m. — but the XL king bed, rainfall shower, Italian linens, and a tablet that controls literally everything (lighting, blinds, TV, temperature) make the cramped footprint feel intentional rather than cheap. The ground floor is a proper communal living room, with Vitra furniture, curated art, bookshelves, and a 24/7 bar-restaurant, which means this feels nothing like a standard airport layover box.

On Property
How you'll actually spend your days.
The entire ground floor is a communal living space with Vitra design furniture, bookshelves, art installations, cozy nooks for working, and dedicated work areas. Self-check-in kiosks, canteenM bar, and gift/toiletry shop also on this floor. Open to hotel guests and meeting room bookings.
citizenM's in-house art programme — conceptual works throughout the lobby, living room, corridors, and on the building's exterior facade. Art is selected to provoke ideas rather than just decorate walls.
Six dedicated creative meeting rooms bookable by the hour or day, separate from the hotel rooms. Capacity up to 14 people per room. All come stocked with a smart TV, AV equipment and cables, whiteboard walls, unlimited coffee/tea/water, stationery, and superfast Wi-Fi. Located 5 minutes' walk from Arrivals Hall 4 — handy for straight-from-the-plane sessions. Bookable fully online in 5 steps with instant confirmation.
