Why It Matters

The original Grand Hotel du Boulevard opened in 1873 at the city's most prestigious corner — Calea Victoriei meets Elisabeta Boulevard — and it was the first hotel in Romania to install electric lights and an elevator. Now a Grade A national monument managed by Corinthia Hotels and owned by Niro Investment Group, it reopened in March 2025 with just 30 suites, three dining venues, and interiors by GA Design that blend Belle Époque bones with contemporary polish. Cosy and well-designed rather than spacious — blue velvet accents, hand-painted gold foil canvases, and views of the historic Cercul Militar building. The best suite in the hotel, full stop. At 115–116 sqm, perched at the exact corner of Bulevardul Regina Elisabeta and Calea Victoriei, it has sweeping dual-aspect views of Bucharest's most historic intersection. Private library doubles as an office. Two bathrooms (marble-clad with soaking tub and rain shower in the master). Living room seats four for dining. A discreet service entrance keeps arrivals private.
