Corippo Hotel Diffuso
Monastic simplicity meets considered craft. Stone walls, historic ceiling beams, no TVs, and an ever-changing seasonal menu. It's slow travel done properly — you're staying inside a living village, not a hotel campus.
The osteria is open to non-guests Wednesday through Sunday — book ahead, especially in summer
Why It Matters
The first albergo diffuso in Switzerland, backed by the Fondazione Corippo 1975 as a CHF 4 million heritage conservation project. Every room is a restored rustico — original floor plans preserved, historic materials retained — spread across an 800-year-old mountain village with only a handful of permanent residents. The 'Alp & Dine' rate includes half-board as standard, and chef Jeremy's cooking draws visitors who aren't even staying the night.
Switzerland's first 'scattered hotel', Corippo Albergo Diffuso opened in spring 2022 in what is officially the country's smallest village. All 10 rooms occupy restored rustici — traditional stone farmhouses — spread across an 800-year-old alpine village in the Verzasca Valley, with the osteria doubling as reception. The whole place is the project of a Franco-Swiss couple: Désirée Voitle (hotel school) and Jeremy Gehring (Michelin-starred kitchens), and it shows — both the hospitality and the food punch well above the price point.

How you'll actually spend your days.
The Verzasca River is one of Ticino's premier canyoning destinations. The hotel can advise on operators in the valley.
The Verzasca is one of Switzerland's rare freshwater scuba diving spots — the water visibility is exceptional.
The surrounding mountains and forests offer trails at all levels, with unspoiled scenery. Corippo sits on the right bank of the Verzasca River — a natural starting point for both valley walks and steeper mountain routes.
The valley has routes suitable for mountain biking through forests and along the river. Bicycle parking available at the hotel.
Kayaking on the Verzasca River. The hotel is ideally positioned as a base for river activities.
The Verzasca's emerald water is famously clear and clean. Swimming spots are accessible from the valley road below Corippo.
The dining room and catering service can be booked exclusively for private events, celebrations, or business conferences. The osteria adapts its setup to the occasion.
Corippo itself is a living museum — an 800-year-old mountain village with a restored mill, a piazza, a church, and stone alleys. Guests can explore freely. The hotel team can provide context on the village's history and the Fondazione Corippo restoration project.
