Why It Matters
The Dorchester Collection's first and only country house hotel, set on a working polo estate with Guards Polo Club on-site. Woven by Adam Smith holds a Michelin star. And the private Dower House, a Grade II listed cottage beside a swan-graced lake, is one of the most genuinely romantic hideaways in southern England.
A Georgian mansion built in 1776 on 240 acres of Berkshire parkland, Coworth Park is the Dorchester Collection's only country house hotel — and it's a very different beast from the group's urban flagships. The estate has polo in its DNA: Guards Polo Club manages the two professional grounds on-site, and horses graze the meadows in plain view from the Drawing Room. But this is no stuffy country pile. The interiors are warm and contemporary, the service is genuinely relaxed, and chef Adam Smith's Michelin-starred restaurant Woven is reason enough to make the drive from London.

Two options here — one at 81 sqm with a separate sitting room and polo field views, and one overlooking the woodlands. Both have spacious marble bathrooms with underfloor heating, double sinks, copper roll-top tub and a separate rain shower. These are the flagship rooms in the Mansion House proper.

An oak-floored, open-plan suite in the main mansion, with a spacious entrance hall and king bed. Sweeping woodland views from large windows. Mansion House Superior Room
In the original Georgian mansion, these rooms have high ceilings and original Georgian sash windows — some with mirrored shutters. Bright and spacious, with neutral tones and wool, silk and cashmere textures. Views are over the woodlands or the polo fields. The king bed can be converted to twins; some have linen-draped four-posters.

North Lodge
A three-bedroom Grade II listed gatehouse cottage on the outer edge of the estate. Tudor exterior, modern country house interiors: velvet sofas, a wood-burning stove, Miele kitchen, and an alfresco dining deck. The master has a super-king bed, walk-in wardrobe and copper roll-top bath. Outside there's a private garden and firepit for evenings. A genuinely secluded option — quieter and less central than the Dower House.

Located in the converted stable courtyard, these rooms have a quietly equestrian feel — oak floors, horseshoe details in the linens, and a village-like atmosphere around The Barn. Ground-floor rooms have their own outdoor seating area overlooking the gardens. The marble bathroom has underfloor heating and a freestanding copper roll-top bathtub.

Stable Junior Suite
Set apart from the Mansion House, these 56 sqm duplex suites look out over the polo fields, courtyard and woodlands. There's a marble bathroom (plus an extra toilet), a patio, garden and spacious living area with a dining table and wood-burning fireplace. Upstairs, the bedroom has a wooden four-poster with a leather headboard and views in three directions.

The most remarkable place to stay on the estate. A Grade II listed Tudor-style cottage, originally built in 1775, sitting beside its own private lake with resident swans. The 2025 restoration by designer Martin Hulbert — the same person who designed the hotel itself in 2010 — brings in oak floors, open fires, a personal wine room and Miele-equipped kitchen. Three bedrooms, each with copper roll-top bathtubs and Wildsmith toiletries. The sun terrace looks over the lake toward the polo fields. A private chef is available on request. Rates start from £5,000 per night.
