Dar Assiya
Sophisticated, sultry Moroccan riad — intimate and calm, never loud or showy. The vibe is more private home than hotel.
Book an airport transfer through the riad — they coordinate a porter to wheel your bags through the medina, which saves a lot of stress on arrival.
Why It Matters
Michelin Guide–listed and a Tablet Hotels member property. One of only a handful of Marrakech riads that balances genuinely beautiful design with service that doesn't feel performative. The food — prepared by in-house cooks Samira and Bouchra — is consistently called one of the best meals guests have on their entire Morocco trip.
A 15th-century noble residence turned six-room riad, Dar Assiya sits behind a massive wooden door in a quiet Medina alley and opens onto a courtyard with an ultramarine-tiled plunge pool and slender palms. The whole place reads like a love letter to Moroccan craft: marble pillars, Moorish archways, zellige tilework, hand-painted ceilings, and brass lanterns at every turn. Run by French hotelier Laurent Bernard with a tight, attentive team, it punches well above its size.
