– Boutique Hotel Lake Como
Contemporary Italian design hotel — clean lines, warm materials, artisan quality. Modern aesthetic in a deeply historic shell. Boutique and personal; feels more like a well-run family property than a corporate hotel.
Request a room facing the Cathedral square for a view that will make you question whether you're asleep — several guests single it out as the highlight of their stay
Why It Matters
One of the few design hotels actually inside Como's historic center rather than on the lakeshore. The building itself has been the seat of the Duomo Factory since the early 1400s. The attached Bottega Comacini restaurant, opened late 2023, has become a destination in its own right.
DBH sits directly across from Como Cathedral in a former clerical building — the old Palazzo dei canonici — that was renovated in 2019 and now holds 21 rooms and suites. The address is as central as it gets in Como's old town: step outside and you're staring at Gothic-Renaissance stonework. Inside, the design does the heavy lifting: contemporary furniture from local artisans, herringbone floors, and marble-clad bathrooms with rainfall showers. Rooms are small by international standards (entry doubles start at 20 sqm), but the finishes are serious and the soundproofing is exceptional.

How you'll actually spend your days.
The hotel's door-step location makes the Cathedral (1396–1740, Gothic-Renaissance), the Broletto civic tower, and the surrounding medieval streets immediately accessible on foot. No guide needed.
Como is Italy's silk capital, and the historic center shopping streets are directly adjacent to the hotel. Staff can point guests toward traditional silk shops and designer boutiques.
Hotel staff assist with day-trip logistics to Bellagio, Varenna, Tremezzina, Cernobbio, and other lake villages — by ferry, private boat, or car. The ferry station is 2 minutes on foot.
The front desk regularly arranges private boat tours of Lake Como through trusted local operators. Multiple guests specifically highlight this as the standout activity of their stay, with boats reaching Varenna, Bellagio, and other villages.
