A third-generation family-run 4-star hotel that has stood on a sunny high plateau at 1,020m in the Black Forest since 1889. Two buildings — the traditional stammHaus and the award-winning modern spaHaus — sit 50 metres apart in open meadows. The kitchen holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand and a Michelin Green Star (2025), and the panoramaSpa spans over 600 sqm with unobstructed views into the national park. Cell phone signal is patchy up here. Langlauf trails and snowshoe routes are accessible directly from the property in winter.
The hotel operates the Skilift Herrenschwand directly adjacent to the property. Main run ~800m, beginner rope tow ~300m. Suitable for families, beginners, and intermediates. Open weekends 09:00–16:30 and daily during school holidays.
The hotel maintains a dedicated 300m sled run next to the ski lift, open on the same schedule.
Numerous premium and panorama hiking trails start directly at the property through mixed forest at 1,020m. Routes range from easy walks to full-day mountain hikes with wide views into the Black Forest.
Dedicated mountain bike trails run directly from the hotel — from gentle forest paths to technical routes. E-bikes available to rent on-site.
Well-marked walking and Nordic walking trails start at the hotel, with panoramic views over the southern Black Forest plateau.
