Why It Matters
Operated by Les Domaines de Fontenille — one of France's most respected independent hotel groups — and designed by the same family that shaped the estate's extraordinary gardens. The whole property can be privatized for exclusive use. It's also one of the very few places in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence with serious landscape credentials: Dominique Lafourcade's gardens are a genuine destination in their own right.
A 16th-century Provençal bastide sitting on nearly 20 hectares of estate just outside Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, converted into a 19-room luxury retreat by the Fontenille Collection. The project is very much a family affair: architect Alexandre Lafourcade oversaw the renovation — his father worked on a previous iteration, and his mother, Dominique Lafourcade, is behind the extraordinary formal gardens considered among the finest in the Alpilles. The whole thing feels more like a grand private home than a hotel, and that's entirely the point.
