Dorset Square Hotel
Regency townhouse with playful cricket-themed interiors. Bold heritage colours, oversized headboards, rich fabrics, and original artwork throughout. Small and intimate — 38 rooms — with the warmth of a well-run private members' club.
Ask for a room overlooking the garden square — the views are genuinely lovely and rooms are quieter than street-facing ones
Why It Matters
The original Firmdale property — Tim and Kit Kemp's first hotel — making it the blueprint for everything Firmdale has built since. The cricket history of the site (Thomas Lord's first ground) gives it a genuine story, not just aesthetic dressing.
This is where Firmdale started. Tim and Kit Kemp's very first opening is a handsome Regency townhouse looking out over the garden square that once served as Thomas Lord's original cricket ground — and the hotel leans into that history hard. Cricket artwork, memorabilia, cocktails named after cricketing terms. But it's not gimmicky. The 38 rooms are individually designed in Kit Kemp's bold-yet-considered English style, and the ground-floor Drawing Room with its fireplace and Honesty Bar is the kind of space you actually want to sit in.
