Palm Springs
Industrial-chic Baja minimalism. Monochromatic palette, large windows, raw materials, handcrafted Mexican and Californian artisan pieces throughout. Laid-back, free-spirited, and social — not stuffy.
The 2-Bedroom Zen Garden Suite (908 sq ft) adds a second ensuite over the Standard 2BR and is worth the upgrade if you're splitting with another couple
Why It Matters
One of the few boutique hotels in Palm Springs that resists the midcentury modern template. It's a Design Hotels member bookable via Marriott Bonvoy, and it houses Maleza — an all-day Baja-Mexican restaurant with its own serious following among locals. The modular room configuration (studios that can connect into up to four bedrooms) is rare for a hotel in this market.
Drift Palm Springs is an industrial-chic boutique hotel squarely in downtown Palm Springs that skips the neighborhood's midcentury modern playbook entirely. The 1.8-acre property leans into a Spanish-Colonial-meets-Moorish-Desert architecture rooted in Baja minimalism — raw steel, brick, and cedar, softened by handmade ceramics from Mexico City, artisanal textiles from Oaxaca, and locally sourced art and furniture. Rooms run from solo-traveler studios all the way up to four-bedroom suites with full kitchens, making it a genuine alternative to the area's vacation rental glut.
