Driftwood
Seaside-chic and low-key. Coastal neutrals, soft linens, local artwork. No pretension, just calm. The Michelin Guide classifies it as 'Contemporary Classic & Quiet'.
Book directly through the hotel's own booking portal for the best rates — dogs are permitted in rooms 11, 12, 14 and 15 for £5/night, but only if booked direct.
Why It Matters
Featured in the Michelin Guide as a hotel and the on-site restaurant has held Michelin recognition and 3 AA Rosettes. The private beach, seven acres of gardens and field-to-plate Cornish cooking set it apart from standard coastal B&Bs.
A family-owned, 14-room boutique hotel sitting right on the South West Coast Path above Gerrans Bay on the Roseland Peninsula. Seven acres of garden — complete with subtropical plants, palm trees, a wildflower meadow and bees that produce honey for the kitchen — spill down to a private crescent beach. The 1930s building has been reworked by owner Fiona Robinson in New England-style clapboard with a Farrow & Ball neutral palette inside. It feels more Mediterranean than Cornish on a sunny day.

A short drive away, St Mawes offers a ferry connection across the Carrick Roads to Falmouth. A popular day trip from the hotel.
Seven acres of gardens featuring subtropical plants, palm trees, secluded shady spots, and a wildflower meadow home to bees that produce honey for the restaurant. Garden chairs dotted throughout.
A winding path through the hotel's coastal gardens leads down to a private crescent beach exclusive to hotel guests. Quiet, unspoiled, no crowds.
The hotel sits directly on the South West Coast Path, so you can step out of the front door and immediately be on one of England's great long-distance trails. The coastal path to Portscatho village is a 30-minute walk. Coves, rugged cliff sections and Atlantic views throughout.
