Southern Thai village meets contemporary luxury — high ceilings, rich teak furniture, crisp white linens, and work by local artists. The lagoon-and-lotus setting gives the whole place a serene, away-from-it-all feel that the busier southern beaches of Phuket simply can't match.

Why It Matters
The only all-pool-villa resort on Phuket's undeveloped north coast, sitting next to a protected sea turtle nesting area. Home to Phuket's first Jim Thompson silk-inspired villa, the award-winning Tree House omakase, and grounds designed by Bill Bensley. The resort actively dims beachfront lighting to avoid disturbing nesting turtles — a rare conservation detail that shapes the whole property layout.
Anantara Mai Khao sits at the very northern tip of Phuket, squeezed between a 17-kilometre stretch of golden beach and the protected jungle of Sirinath National Park. The all-villa resort — 91 private pool villas — is clustered around a lotus-covered lagoon designed by landscape legend Bill Bensley, who manicured the grounds into a tropical Southern Thai village with wooden catwalks crossing flower-dotted ponds. Here, the closest thing to a problem is deciding whether to catch Muay Thai at dawn, take the private yacht out for the day, or spend the afternoon at the Tree House omakase bar in the treetops.
