Why It Matters
The only all-pool-villa resort on Phuket's undeveloped north coast, sitting next to a protected sea turtle nesting area. Anantara Mai Khao sits at the very northern tip of Phuket, squeezed between a 17-kilometre stretch of golden beach and the protected jungle of Sirinath National Park. The all-villa resort — 91 private pool villas — is clustered around a lotus-covered lagoon designed by landscape legend Bill Bensley, who manicured the grounds into a tropical Southern Thai village with wooden catwalks crossing flower-dotted ponds.
