Thani Bangkok
Contemporary Thai luxury with deliberate heritage wiring. André Fu's palette is warm and grounded — celadon green, sage, pale champagne, touches of gold — inspired by the park below. Traditional Thai motifs show up in latticed pakon woodwork doors, headboards pulled from old Benjarong restaurant murals, and those two preserved Benjarong pillars standing in the grand lobby. It's refined without being stuffy, and the scale feels right — 257 rooms never overwhelms the way 517 once did.
All guests check in at the Sky Lobby on the 39th floor — you get an immediate sense of the park views before you even see your room
Why It Matters
The only hotel in Bangkok where every room looks directly over Lumpini Park. Cannubi by Umberto Bombana — the hotel's Italian fine-dining restaurant — holds the only Michelin star of any Italian restaurant in Thailand (2026 Guide). The hotel itself earned a Michelin Key in October 2025, was named Best Hotels in Bangkok by Condé Nast Traveller, and picked up Top New Hotel at Smart Travel Asia's Best in Travel 2025. The lobby features two hand-painted pillars physically salvaged from the original hotel's Benjarong restaurant — a rare gesture of authentic preservation in a total rebuild.
This is Bangkok's great comeback story. The original Dusit Thani opened in 1970 as the city's first true luxury hotel — its distinctive golden spire was for years the most recognizable thing on the skyline. It closed in 2019, was demolished, and has been completely rebuilt from the ground up as the anchor of the Dusit Central Park mixed-use development. It reopened September 27, 2024 as a 39-story, 257-room tower designed by André Fu Studio, with every single room facing Lumpini Park through wide cantilevered bay windows. The room count was deliberately cut nearly in half from the original 517 — the trade-off is far more space and a much sharper product.
