Eden Hotel Bormio
Alpine modernism. Think warm larch wood everywhere, Flexform leather sofas, clean lines, no kitsch. It reads as a Milanese design sensibility applied to a mountain lodge — sophisticated but not cold.

Why It Matters
Designed by ACPV Architects Antonio Citterio and Patricia Viel — their names alone are a statement. The hotel is listed in the Michelin Guide. The fine-dining Eden Restaurant by Chef Giovanni Caracciolo takes Jackson Pollock as a declared creative influence, which is either intriguing or baffling, depending on your taste. Proximity to both ski runs and Bormio's famous thermal baths makes it work in every season.
Eden Hotel Bormio is a 4-star design hotel built in 2012 and designed by the internationally acclaimed architecture studio ACPV Architects (Antonio Citterio and Patricia Viel). The structure is a sequence of tall, narrow wooden volumes with slate roofs and large glass facades — unusual for a mountain climate, and striking for it. All 27 rooms and suites are fully clad in organic European larch, which the hotel says actually lowers your heart rate and improves sleep. It sits 100 metres from Bormio's historic center and about the same distance from the cable car up to the ski area, making it genuinely useful year-round.
