Eichardt's has been on the Queenstown waterfront since 1861, and it's still the best address in town. The grand white Victorian building sits right on Marine Parade facing Lake Wakatipu — walk out the front door and you're staring at the Remarkables. Interior designer Virginia Fisher (and latterly Nina Bell for the Penthouse) has balanced antique furnishings with sharp contemporary style: opossum-fur throws on the beds, marble heated floors in the bathrooms, gas fireplaces in every suite. In 2025, it picked up a Michelin Key — the first in New Zealand — which only confirmed what regulars already knew.

Set in the original 1861 building — some of these are the very rooms Julia Eichardt once tended. Each is individually styled with antique furnishings and distinct character. Views look toward the gondola and mountain ranges rather than the lake. Fireplace, separate living room, heated marble bathroom floors, double vanity, soaking tub, and separate shower.

Lake View Suite
The front-row seats of the main building. These suites look directly over Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables — the view is genuinely spectacular, especially at sunrise. Four self-contained apartments located 75 metres from the main building, directly on the lakefront. Full kitchenette with washing machine and dryer, gas fireplace, balcony with panoramic lake views. The flagship of the Eichardt's collection and the largest private suite in Queenstown at 240sqm. Designed by Nina Bell with heritage timber, vaulted ceilings, metallics, and monogrammed pillows. Two large bedrooms connected by a sweeping living area. Indoor and outdoor kitchens, private sauna, cedar spa pool, and Queenstown's largest waterfront private terrace. A round-the-clock butler and personal chef are included. Guests are met at the airport by a private driver and arrive via private elevator. Daily pre-dinner cocktails served in-suite.
