Why It Matters
One of only ten properties in the Luxury Lodges of Australia collection, the Homestead is the only truly all-inclusive luxury experience in the Kimberley. Its exclusivity — fewer than 20 guests at any time on a 700,000-acre wilderness park — is almost impossible to replicate anywhere in the country. Open only April to October due to the wet season; the rest of the year the Kimberley is inaccessible.
El Questro Homestead is a cliffside adults-only retreat perched above the Chamberlain Gorge in Western Australia's remote Kimberley region, about 110 km from Kununurra. Just ten suites, a maximum of 20 guests, and an all-inclusive rate that covers gourmet meals, open bar, guided gorge walks, river cruises, and exclusive access to Zebedee Thermal Springs each afternoon. The landscape does the heavy lifting — soaring burnt-orange escarpments, ancient boab trees, thermal pools — and the Homestead simply gets out of its way, letting guests absorb it all from cantilevered bedrooms over the Chamberlain River.

Cliffside Retreats
Three freestanding pavilions positioned at the very edge of a sheer escarpment — as close to the gorge as you can sleep. Floor-to-ceiling sliding glass windows bring the wilderness inside, and the outdoor freestanding stone bathtub on the private deck faces directly out over the Chamberlain River. High stone walls give complete privacy. Feather-topped king beds face the glass walls so you wake up looking straight into the gorge.

Gorgeview Rooms
Spacious, modern rooms perched above the Chamberlain River with a private deck looking directly out over the gorge. A stone al fresco bathtub on the deck is cantilevered over the view — a genuine talking point. Modern bathrooms with rain showers and floor-to-ceiling windows. The best entry point into the gorge-view category.
KingHomestead Rooms
The most accessible entry point at the Homestead. Stylishly designed with modern en suite bathrooms and a private veranda looking over the property's manicured tropical gardens. Local wallabies and birds drift through the lawn — a gentler outlook than the gorge views, but genuinely lovely and more sheltered. Good choice if you find sheer clifftop drops more daunting than thrilling.
KingThe Chamberlain Suite
The showpiece of the property. Dramatically cantilevered directly over the edge of Chamberlain Gorge, this suite delivers panoramic views of the Kimberley landscape from every angle. The wraparound veranda includes a private dining area, a lounge, and a double deluxe bathtub built for two overlooking the gorge. Floor-to-ceiling windows mean the cliffs and river are always in frame.
