Why It Matters

Winner of ArchDaily's Building of the Year 2025 in the hospitality category, and a Dezeen Awards 2025 finalist. The Policronica design studio used eucalyptus wood — an invasive, fast-growing species typically used for paper production — as the near-exclusive architectural material. Genuinely unusual. Also one of a handful of Paris hotels where guests get private rooftop access to a major live music venue next door.

Opened in February 2025 inside a building with 200 years of history, this 16-room boutique hotel sits wedged between the Trianon and Élysée Montmartre concert halls on Boulevard Rochechouart. Architect Julien Labrousse and producer Abel Nahmias built the interiors around a single unlikely material — eucalyptus wood, typically destined for paper pulp, compressed and crafted into custom furniture, staircase treads, and ceiling panels throughout. The result is quiet and warm, not loud. No spa, no rooftop pool, no grand lobby. What you get instead: generous rooms by Paris standards, a guest-only coffee bar that actually invites lingering, a private screening room stocked with vintage laser discs, a dedicated kids' playroom, and — the real kicker — rooftop access to Trianon concerts via a private entrance.
