Emeline is a 212-room boutique hotel at Church and Market in the heart of Charleston's historic district — the same spot that spent decades as a forgettable chain hotel (formerly a DoubleTree). The transformation is total. Rooms come in rich emerald and gold, Crosley turntables spin vinyl in suites, and a central courtyard strings lights over greenery and a greenhouse. The building's bones go back to the 1850s, when it was a mercantile block across from the open-air City Market. It's been a bank, a provisions store, and a hotel since. Emeline opened in July 2020 and has been one of Charleston's most talked-about properties ever since.

The entry-level room and the coziest in the house. A proper king bed dressed in 300-thread-count Matouk linens with satin trim, an accommodating workspace, and views of either historic Charleston streetscapes or the interior courtyard. Small but well-designed — no wasted space.

The largest suite in the collection. Two separate king bedrooms flank a full living area with sleeper sofa and dining table — essentially an apartment. Best pick for two couples or a family who wants real privacy without separate rooms.

A proper suite at 450 sq ft. Lush velvet accents anchor the separate living area with sleeper sofa and dining table. The marble vanity bathroom includes a walk-in shower with Red Flower amber-scented products. The Crosley turntable plays vinyl curated by Charleston's Record Shop. Rates from around $440/night.
1 KingMaisonette Superior Loft Suite
The most architecturally distinctive room in the hotel. Two stories: living space on the ground floor, king bedroom and bathroom upstairs. The exterior entrance opens directly onto the central courtyard. It's quiet, private, and has a garden-apartment feel that's hard to find in any city hotel.

A suite version of the two-king setup, ranging from 360 to 450 sq ft, with the suite-tier amenities added in: spa robes, Nespresso, mini-bar, Hank's cookbook, and early check-in eligibility.

The biggest standard room in the collection, with two king beds. Great for friends traveling together or families. Can be interconnected with suites for a full shared hotel-apartment setup.
