ERMITAGE Wellness & Spa-Hotel
Alpine chalet warmth with serious wellness credentials. Lots of wood panelling, panoramic windows, mountain views, and a roster of wellness programming that would take weeks to work through. Feels more like a curated resort than a hotel you pass through.
The wellness spa is open to day visitors — a good option if you want to test it before booking
Why It Matters
Pioneer of Alpine saltwater bathing — the first brine pool in the Alps was built here. Today it runs the region's largest wellness facility at 3,700 m². Also the official partner hotel of the prestigious Gstaad Menuhin Festival & Academy, giving guests access to masterclasses and student concerts in the hotel ballroom.
The ERMITAGE is the largest wellness hotel in the Saanenland, sitting on a sunny plateau in the village of Schönried, ten minutes above Gstaad at 1,200 metres. It claims Alpine wellness pioneering status — it built the first brine bath in the Alps — and that legacy still shapes everything here. Ninety-seven rooms across three connected chalet-style buildings, a 3,700 m² spa, eight themed restaurant parlours and a Swarovski-encrusted bar make it a proper destination in its own right.
