Esplanade Saarbrücken
Quietly luxurious mid-century minimalism. Clear lines, oiled oak herringbone parquet, hand-made 3D ceramic tiles, and original Le Corbusier aquatint prints. Four color palettes across the rooms: framboise, beige, indigo, and turquoise. Designed holistically by Tanja Zimmer — tactile, acoustic, and visual details all considered together.

Why It Matters
One of Germany's very few boutique hotels anchored by a two-Michelin-starred restaurant under the same roof. The hotel itself holds two Michelin Keys. Chef Silio Del Fabro earned the second star in 2021 and has drawn gastronomy visitors from across Europe. Ranked in the Falstaff Hotel Guide 2023 as one of Germany's five best gourmet hotels. Also listed in Die 101 Besten Hotels 2026.
A 16-room boutique hotel occupying a protected 1890 Wilhelminian-era landmark on Max-Ophüls-Platz, right at the entrance to Saarbrücken's Nauwieser Viertel. The building is a former school, now home to mid-century design classics by Harry Bertoia, Eero Saarinen, and Le Corbusier alongside a two-Michelin-starred restaurant. Owners Tanja and Michael Zimmer started the restaurant first in 2015, earned the first Michelin star in 2018, then renovated the hotel floors over two and a half years.
