Manor
English country house meets Manhattan interior design studio. Think limed plaster walls, Murano glass chandeliers and serpent-shaped velvet banquettes alongside original panelling and sash windows. Unstuffy, design-led luxury with a members' club atmosphere.
Book the Eynsham Baths Thermal Journey well in advance — it operates at fixed times (9am, 12pm, 3pm, 6pm) and fills quickly at weekends
Why It Matters
Roman and Williams — the NY firm behind some of America's finest boutique hotels — designed the interiors. Eynsham Baths, the on-site spa, is a neoclassical standalone bathhouse inspired by Roman villa ruins found on the estate. Four restaurants spanning British, Chinese, Japanese and casual greenhouse dining make it unusual for a UK country house. Appeared on the World's 50 Best Hotels 2025 list and Condé Nast Traveller Hot List 2024.
Estelle Manor is a Grade II-listed Jacobean revival manor on an 85-acre Oxfordshire estate, reopened in May 2023 after a complete overhaul by New York design firm Roman and Williams. The result is genuinely striking: period bones dressed with bold colour, velvet, brass and eclectic art, all anchored by four restaurants, a 3,000 sq m Roman-inspired bathhouse spa, and a 25-metre outdoor pool. It doubles as a private members' club — the countryside counterpart to Maison Estelle in Mayfair — so non-member hotel guests share the space with a regular crowd of London weekenders.
