Why It Matters
The only Experimental Group property in France's Alps — and the brand's first real large-format hotel (113 rooms vs. the intimate Verbier property). It brings a genuinely distinctive hospitality identity — rooted in cocktail culture and bold design — to a resort town full of generic four-star options. The Experimental Cocktail Club here is the sixth in the world.
The Experimental Group — famous for cocktail bars in London, Paris, and New York — has a real knack for opening hotels that feel like a party you were invited to by a cool friend. This one, their second Alpine property after Verbier, took the bones of the old L'Aigle des Neiges and completely rebuilt the interior around one big idea: the spirit of the forest. Designer Dorothée Meilichzon ran with it — elk-antler door handles, ski-spatula mirror frames, mushroom-shaped lamps, and snow-white marble alongside deep forest greens and Aperol orange. The result is a 113-room, four-star hotel sitting right in the heart of Val d'Isère at 1,850m, a five-minute walk from the Solaise gondola, with two restaurants, a cocktail bar that hosts DJs on Fridays and Saturdays, and a proper spa.
