Book Fairmont Gold for the dragon boat arrival, dedicated lounge breakfast, afternoon tea, and evening canapés — the upgrade cost is worthwhile

Why It Matters

The 1,200-meter seawater Yun River canal running through the property is a genuine world first for a hotel. The Xitang Wood Art Gallery — a Qing-dynasty Jiangnan courtyard relocated in its entirety from Shanghai — is a rare cultural artifact you can actually walk through. Fairmont Gold here includes exclusive dragon boat access, a dedicated lounge, and a hotel-within-a-hotel tier that is unusually well-separated from the main building.

One of the more architecturally ambitious resort hotels on Hainan Island. The 1,200-meter seawater Yun River canal — billed as the world's first inside a hotel — winds through the entire property, and Fairmont Gold guests board a private dragon boat from arrival to reach their wing. The resort sits directly on Haitang Bay, facing WuZhiZhou Island, a snorkeling and diving hotspot. Rooms start at a generous 65 sqm and are furnished with ancient hardwood, natural stone, and traditional Chinese woodcarving. The on-site Xitang Wood Art Gallery is a genuine Qing-dynasty Jiangnan courtyard physically relocated from Shanghai — Ming and Qing antique furniture, fish ponds, and all.
