Why It Matters
One of the few hotels in England where guests can literally sleep in the room used by Elizabeth I (1575). The Cedar Restaurant holds 3 AA Rosettes. The spa won 5 Bubbles from the Good Spa Guide following its 2021 refurbishment, and is widely regarded as one of the Midlands' best destination spas. Fawsley Hall is a 15th-century country house that wears its history loud and proud — Tudor, Georgian, and Victorian wings all piled on over the centuries, each one contemporary in its day. The original Tudor south wing hosted Queen Elizabeth I in 1575; you can still sleep in her room. Set in 2,000 acres of Northamptonshire parkland designed by Capability Brown, the estate draws a mix of history obsessives, spa devotees, and wedding parties. A £1.5M spa refurbishment in 2021 added a sleek 17-metre pool and an infinity hydropool to an already compelling package.

Classic Room
Entry-level rooms found across the various wings of the property. Individually furnished, with elegant period-inspired decor, flat-screen TV, free Wi-Fi, safe, desk, and private bathroom with separate bath and shower. Some rooms have steps within them — worth noting if mobility is a consideration.
Feature Rooms & Suites
Eleven feature rooms and suites in total, each named after a person with a historic connection to the house. The Jane Skenard room — named after the wife of the fourth Richard Knightley — is accessed via its own small staircase and has a super-king carved wooden bed with views of rolling hills and lakes. All feature rooms have distinct quirks and period details.

The headline room, and rightly so. This is the first-floor Tudor Wing suite named after Elizabeth I, who last slept here in 1575. There's a separate spacious living room, an incredible hand-carved original fireplace, a soaring roof, a four-poster bed, and a roll-top bath. Velvet sofas, a walk-in wardrobe, and separate shower complete the picture. It's a lot of room.

Superior rooms are found throughout the main house, in the stables, and in Knightley Court. Individually designed, they vary in size and decor but all include period touches, flat-screen TV, free Wi-Fi, premium bedding, pillow menu, and 24-hour room service.
