Palace Hotel
Art Deco heritage meets cool contemporary Brazilian luxury. Pastel-hued rooms, cerulean Portuguese azulejo tiles at the rooftop pool, mid-century modern furniture, and Bahian art on the walls. Relaxed but polished — more culturally rooted boutique hotel than stiff grand dame.

Why It Matters
Michelin Key 2025 recipient and ranked Top 6 Hotel in Brazil by Exame 2025. The only luxury hotel of its era in Salvador to survive and be properly restored. The building itself — a 9-floor Art Deco icon on Brazil's oldest street — is the draw before you even check in. The Tower Suite is literally built into a circular copper-spired tower. The former casino ballroom, immortalized in Jorge Amado's novel 'Dona Flor and Her Two Husbands,' is now used for events.
Salvador's most storied hotel, built in 1934 in the Art Deco style and modeled on New York's Flatiron Building. It opened as the first luxury hotel in Bahia, hosted Carmen Miranda, Pablo Neruda, and Orson Welles, fell into disrepair for decades, and then came roaring back in 2017 after a meticulous restoration led by Danish architect Adam Kurdahl. Today it sits at the corner of Rua Chile — the oldest street in Brazil — with a rooftop infinity pool staring straight out at the Bay of All Saints. History, location, and a sharp contemporary design sensibility all in one building.

How you'll actually spend your days.
The concierge team books and recommends local experiences — Pelourinho walking tours, candomblé ceremonies, capoeira shows, Mercado Modelo visits. Staff are local and passionate about the city, with recent guests praising individual concierge team members by name.
The former Casino Hall, immortalized in Jorge Amado's novel 'Dona Flor and Her Two Husbands,' is now a grand ballroom with 6m ceilings and capacity for up to 300 guests. Available for private events. Also accessible for hotel guests to admire as a cultural and architectural landmark.
Air-conditioned gym on the 9th floor equipped with cardiovascular machines and weight training equipment. Open daily 6am–11pm — unusually long hours, which suits both early risers and late returners.
The hotel's headline feature. Rooftop pool with cerulean azulejo-tiled surround and a panoramic view of the Bay of All Saints. Loungers available. Guests-only access. The sunset here is genuinely special — arrive early to secure a spot.
