Villa Fiesole
Romantic, quiet, old-money Italian elegance. Think faded villa grandeur done right — not stuffy, but not modern minimalism either. Couples and anniversary travelers are the core market. Occasional weddings can disrupt the peace.

Why It Matters
A Michelin Key-selected property with a Michelin Star restaurant (2026 Guide) — rare for a 4-star hillside hotel. The panoramic views of Florence from the terrace and pool are arguably unmatched at this price point. The free seasonal shuttle to Piazza della Repubblica is a practical lifesaver.
A converted 19th-century historic villa — parts of it dating to medieval times — sitting above Florence in the small hilltop town of Fiesole. Thirty-two rooms spread across a property that feels genuinely residential: terracotta floors, frescoed ceilings in some rooms, antique furnishings, and a terrace with an unobstructed panorama of Florence's rooftops and the Duomo. The real headline is Ristorante Serrae Villa Fiesole, the on-site Michelin-starred restaurant led by Chef Antonello Sardi, which draws non-guests from Florence just for dinner.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Fiesole sits at the gateway to cycling routes toward Mugello, Chianti, and Casentino. The hotel can advise on routes. A popular route leads from Montesenario through Fiesole to Florence — largely flat, through olive groves and cypress trees.
The ancient Etruscan and Roman ruins of Fiesole are a five-minute walk from the hotel. The Roman amphitheatre hosts the Estate Fiesolana cultural festival in summer. Far less visited than Florence's main sites.
The concierge can arrange visits to Medici Villas in the surrounding area and Berenson House — a 16th-century Tuscan house containing an extensive library, photo archive, and Renaissance and Oriental art.
The hop-on hop-off bus stops directly in front of the hotel, making it a convenient and surprisingly practical way to reach Florence's key sites. Multilingual audio commentary on board.
A bookable experience: a basket of artisanal delicacies prepared by Michelin-starred Chef Antonello Sardi for two, taken out into the Florentine countryside. Bookable online through the hotel's services platform.
The concierge arranges visits to local olive oil producers and Tuscan wineries. Staff can organize private winery and olive producer tours — guests have reported vintage Land Rover drives through the countryside with tastings.
A compact 6m x 7m heated outdoor pool with a Florence city view from the solarium above. Sun beds and tables on the adjacent solarium deck. Open April through October. Heated in April, May, and October to between 26°C and 30°C.
Starting from the hotel's car park, guests can hike to Monte Ceceri — where Leonardo da Vinci reportedly tested his flying machine — and through the surrounding Florentine hills. Short and long routes available through villages and countryside.
