First Hotel Atlantic
Unpretentious Scandinavian city hotel with a self-aware, slightly irreverent personality — their own website jokes about avoiding clichés like 'hidden gem' and 'home away from home'. Bright, clean interiors with a street art twist courtesy of the 17 Walls mural project on the exterior. Feels local rather than corporate.

Why It Matters
Listed by both Michelin Guide and Tablet Hotels. The 10th-floor breakfast-with-a-view is a genuine perk included in every rate. Part of the '17 Walls' street art project, the building's exterior features large-scale murals tied to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Dog-friendly with welcome kits. Good waterfront location at a reasonable price for Aarhus.
Hotel Atlantic sits right on Europaplads by the Aarhus waterfront — 600 metres from the train station, a short walk from DOKK1 and the Latin Quarter. The exterior is a no-nonsense mid-century block (the Michelin Guide politely notes it 'can hardly be deemed charming'), but the rooms are spacious and modern with balconies, and the 10th-floor breakfast restaurant has a genuinely sweeping panoramic view of the harbor and city rooftops. Breakfast is always included. The bar stays open around the clock.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Hotel Atlantic's exterior features large-scale murals as part of the '17 Walls' project — a Aarhus city-wide initiative that translated each of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals into street art murals across the city centre. The hotel's own murals include works like 'Faucet of Life' and 'Morgenlys' (Morning Light). Pick up a map at reception for a self-guided walk.
Reduced-price entrance tickets to Den Gamle By — Denmark's national open-air museum of urban history — are sold at the hotel reception. The museum is 1.7km away and contains 75+ historic buildings, 34 workshops and shops, a pharmacy, a school, and the Elsinore Theatre.
Dogs are welcome at Hotel Atlantic for 325 DKK per night per dog. Each dog receives a special Atlantic-branded welcome kit at check-in. Must be declared prior to arrival.
Stay in your room until 5 PM on Sundays for 200 DKK. Subject to availability — request at reception the day before or on the day.
Traditional Danish cold table buffet on the 10th floor with panoramic harbor and city views. Unlimited draught beer and soft drinks included. Available on select Sundays October–December, 13:00–16:00. Open to hotel guests and the public.
