Mayfair
Quietly confident 1930s Art Deco boutique. It doesn't need to shout. Literary, old-school Mayfair in its bones—portraits of writers on the bar walls, Agatha Christie connections—but with serious, modern culinary credentials layered on top.
The Studio Suite's private gin bar is worth the upgrade from a Junior Suite—it's a genuinely fun in-room amenity
Why It Matters
One of London's oldest privately owned independent hotels, operating on the same Mayfair street since 1851. In 2024 it earned both a Michelin Key (hotel recognition) and a Michelin Star for Ormer Mayfair restaurant—a rare double. It also holds four AA Rosettes and sits in the Harden's Guide top-5 London restaurants. And yes, it was the setting that inspired Agatha Christie's 'At Bertram's Hotel'.
One of London's oldest independent hotels, founded in 1851 and built from thirteen Georgian townhouses on a quiet street between Piccadilly and Green Park. The 129 rooms and suites take their cue from 1930s Art Deco—bronze hardware, silky grey tones, bespoke fiddle-back sycamore cabinetry, and hand-stitched mattresses throughout. The real headline these days is Ormer Mayfair, the in-house restaurant that earned its first Michelin star in 2024 under Chef Sofian Msetfi.
