Istanbul at Sultanahmet
Historic grandeur meets understated luxury. Ottoman heritage architecture, curated Turkish artisan works, and Four Seasons polish. Intimate and quiet — this is not a scene hotel. Multigenerational families and history-minded travelers feel right at home.

Why It Matters
The only ultra-luxury hotel in Istanbul's Sultanahmet Old City, literally steps from Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, and Topkapı Palace. The building's former-prison history — originally designed by Mimar Kemaleddin Bey in 1918 — gives it a one-of-a-kind character that no new-build can replicate. Recognized by Travel & Leisure as World's and Europe's Best Hotel, and awarded three keys by the Michelin Guide.
A 65-room luxury hotel inside a lemon-yellow 1918 neoclassical prison. Four Seasons took over the building in 1996 and did a full renovation in 2022 — keeping the marble archways, pointed arches, ornate Iznik tiles, and hand-painted ceilings while adding contemporary touches like a quartet of nazar boncuğu mirrors in the lobby. The former exercise yard is now a fragrant courtyard garden full of rosemary, basil, and peppermint, with Avlu Restaurant's glass pavilion at its center.
