Madrid
Grand urban landmark with contemporary Spanish art sensibility. Heritage architecture meets very deliberate modern design — Martin Brudnizki handled the rooftop, Paloma Fernández-Iriondo curated the art. The crowd is fashionable Madrileños mixed with international luxury travelers.
The Dani Brasserie buffet breakfast is a genuine standout — worth booking even if you're not staying
Why It Matters
First Four Seasons in Spain; ranked 32nd by The World's 50 Best Hotels 2024; Forbes Five-Star for both Hotel and Spa (2024); suites run up to €12,000/night; home to chef Dani García's rooftop brasserie and the largest urban wellness centre in Madrid.
Four Seasons' first hotel in Spain opened in September 2020 inside the Centro Canalejas complex, uniting seven historic buildings — the oldest from 1887 — into a single 200-room property steps from Puerta del Sol. The building started life as the headquarters of La Equitativa insurance company, then served as Banesto bank until 2004; today over 3,700 original artefacts including stained glass, gilt-topped marble columns and ornate teller counters are woven into the design. The art program is serious: some 1,500 pieces by Spanish artists are curated throughout the corridors, restaurants and spa, making a wander through the building feel genuinely gallery-like.
