Why It Matters
The only luxury hotel in Morocco's capital, set within the restored 18th-century Kasr Al Bahr palace complex originally built for Sultan Moulay Slimane. Rabat is a UNESCO World Heritage city that sees a fraction of the visitors Marrakech gets, making this a genuinely rarified experience.
Opened in October 2024, this is a former sultan's summer palace turned oceanfront hotel — and one of the most architecturally dramatic new openings in Africa. The property spans 5 hectares (12 acres) and 11 buildings, six of them original 18th-century structures that once housed Moroccan royalty and later a French military hospital. Four Seasons has layered the bones with custom Zellige tilework, stained glass, brass fixtures, and courtyard fountains, arriving somewhere between a palace restoration and a genuinely glamorous resort.
