A 17th-century lakeside manor sitting on the shores of Lake Mälaren, about 25 minutes from central Stockholm. The main building dates from 1659–1661 and the façade is clad in Gotland sandstone — the only remaining 15th-century-era complex of its kind in Sweden. Today it operates as an adults-only (16+) boutique hotel with 45 individually designed rooms spread across seven historic buildings, from castle wings to garden villas. No two rooms are the same, the restaurant is genuinely serious about food, and the whole thing sits inside a protected nature reserve.

Dubbelrum Deluxe
Larger than the standard doubles or featuring extra amenities such as a bathtub. Some have bathtubs as the centrepiece — Room 33, for instance, famously has a bathroom bigger than the bedroom. Headboards sourced from antique dealers across Europe.
DoubleDubbelrum Grand Deluxe
The largest and most individually styled rooms on the estate, each bookable as its own category. Room 5, for example, has a dramatic silver headboard sourced from a London furniture dealer (the same one used at Soho House New York) and doubles as a popular bridal suite. Room 14 features a canopy bed. All Grand Deluxe rooms are individually named and styled.
Double or KingDubbelrum Slottsflygel (Castle Wing Double)
Located in the two historic castle wings directly adjacent to the main building. The south wing dates from 1679. Closest rooms to the restaurant and common salons. Some feature attic layouts with sloped ceilings.
DoubleDubbelrum Small Villa
Compact double rooms in one of the castle's villa buildings, with 150–160 cm beds. Same standard of comfort and individual decoration as all other rooms. Good value entry point for couples.

Set in one of Görväln's four satellite villas, 150–250 m from the main castle building. Each villa is unique. Expect antique headboards sourced from French auction houses, bold colors and a strong sense of place. The slight walk to the restaurant adds to the estate feeling.
DoubleEnkelrum (Single Room)
The smallest rooms at Görväln, designed for solo travelers who don't want to compromise on quality. Beds range from 105–120 cm. Still individually decorated with the same handpicked details as the larger rooms — Mille Notti linens, minibar, flat-screen TV.

The hotel sits inside a protected nature reserve on Lake Mälaren. Trails lead through forest and along the lakeside. The property itself has a tree collection with over a hundred species, including exotic varieties.
Viksjö Golf Club is located approximately 5 km from the hotel.
The castle's own herb, flower and vegetable garden supplies the restaurant kitchen. Guests can visit the gardens. The hotel won the Culinary Hotel Awards 2026 Sustainable Award in part due to this on-site growing program.
An ongoing fashion photography exhibition by Swedish-Polish photographer Ea Czyz displayed throughout the restaurant and castle interiors. The works document the Paris haute couture world, including shoots at Jean-Paul Gaultier, Dolce & Gabbana and Iris van Herpen.
An outdoor sculpture park surrounding the castle, open year-round. Rotating temporary artworks are installed on the grounds, including occasionally on the castle façade itself.
