Gaia River Lodge
Rustic eco-luxury with serious ecological credentials. Off-grid, adults-oriented, and genuinely wild — but with Frette linens, Ortigia bath products, and a cocktail menu designed by a Montreal mixologist. The vibe is adventurous couple or discerning nature traveler, not resort-hoppers.
Book the Waterfall View Cabana or Waterfall View Suite — sleeping to the sound of the falls at night is the defining experience
Why It Matters
Recipient of 2 Michelin Keys in 2025. Green Globe Certified. Runs entirely on hydroelectric power with zero grid dependency. One of very few lodges with a spa treatment room literally at the base of a waterfall. Member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World.
Gaïa Riverlodge sits atop the Five Sisters Waterfalls deep inside the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve — one of the most genuinely remote luxury properties in Central America. Seventeen thatched-roof casitas and villas are built from Belizean hardwoods and palmetto, fan-cooled by the rainforest microclimate, and lit by the lodge's own hydroelectric plant harnessed from the Privasson Creek below. There's no traditional pool here — instead, guests descend (by funicular or 300 steps) to freshwater swimming holes fed directly by the falls.
