Why It Matters
Italy's first design hotel, per its own architect. Owned by the Ferragamo family and the only genuinely contemporary boutique hotel in central Florence. The facade changes with each new art installation. Direct booking includes complimentary access to the Salvatore Ferragamo Museum.
Florence doesn't do contemporary. This one does. Designed by Florentine architect Michele Bönan for the Ferragamo family, Gallery Hotel Art sits in a quiet alley off the Arno, one minute from Ponte Vecchio. The concrete exterior is a deliberate provocation in a city of stone and fresco. Inside, the lobby doubles as a live art gallery with rotating contemporary exhibitions that also spill onto the building's facade. Standard rooms run small at 20-22 sqm, but the public spaces more than compensate: a lounge-library with 400 books, the Fusion Bar & Restaurant, and the 701 Rooftop Bar on the seventh floor with direct sightlines to the Duomo, Giotto Tower, and Palazzo Vecchio.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Every Sunday from 4pm, a relaxed rooftop afternoon with soft DJ sets, signature cocktails, and open views over Florence. Popular with both guests and locals.
Live piano — Italian and international classics — from 7pm in an intimate rooftop setting. Signature cocktails and the Florence skyline as backdrop.
A curated experience through Lungarno Collection's partner, exploring one of Brunello di Montalcino's landmark producers from the historic Palazzo Capponi in Florence.
The hotel's facade and lobby both serve as active exhibition spaces. The facade features large-scale, bold contemporary art installations that change annually — each year focuses on a different theme and artist. Lobby exhibitions rotate throughout the year with vernissages open to guests and the public.
Complimentary entry to the Salvatore Ferragamo Museum in the Palazzo Spini Feroni on Via Tornabuoni — included with all direct bookings. A genuine perk given the museum's connection to the hotel's ownership.
Arranged through Lungarno Collection's partner Upballooning — a private balloon experience over Florence and the Tuscan countryside.
A proper library with 400 books covering cinema histories, Victorian novels, and everything in between. Parquet floors, taupe velvet sofas. The one place in the hotel designed for actual lounging — unlike the lobby benches, which are more 'art viewing' than 'feet up'.
Explore Florence and surrounding countryside by Vespa through a sustainable mobility experience arranged via the hotel's concierge and Lungarno Collection's Vespa partner.
