Ganis Resort
Tyrolean mountain resort with a family-run warmth and a genuine active-holiday ethos. Classic wooden alpine interiors getting a contemporary upgrade. Not flashy — more the place serious hikers, skiers, and foodies return to annually.

Why It Matters
The Ganis family (four Pichler brothers plus parents) are visibly present and personally involved in running the hotel, the mountain huts, and the guided activities. The 'Ganis Board Plus' concept lets guests eat across three distinct Ganis-owned establishments — the hotel restaurant, the Gardoné mountain riviera at 1,700m, and the Ganischgeralm beer garden — all on a single included package. It's a genuinely smart dining concept. The hotel is also a founding member of Petersberg Golf Club and runs free daily ski and activity shuttles.
This is technically Italy, but nobody told the mountains. At 1,300 metres in the Eggental Valley, with German street signs, Tyrolean architecture and the Rosengarten massif looming over the terrace, Ganis Resort sits in that fascinatingly un-Italian corner of South Tyrol near Bolzano. Run by the Pichler family for decades, the resort has been operating as Ganischgerhof and is currently completing a full top-to-bottom redesign set to reopen July 25, 2026 as the new Ganis Resort. The rebuilt property will offer 52 rooms (16 brand-new), an indoor/outdoor infinity pool pointed straight at the Catinaccio massif, a fresh adults-only sauna house, and the same family-run character that kept guests coming back year after year.

An annual classic car rally organized by the Ganis family, held each October. One of the more unusual hotel-organised events in the Alps — participants compete on mountain passes and scenic roads across the Dolomites. Packages start from €2,870 per team and include accommodation with Ganis Board Plus. Limited spots — waitlisting is common.
Ganis is a founding member of Petersberg Golf Club, a beautiful 18-hole course at 1,300m with 360° panoramic views of the South Tyrolean mountains, 10 minutes from the hotel. Guests receive preferential tee times and 20% discount on green fees across South Tyrolean courses with the Golf-In-Card South Tyrol. Free shuttle to the course.
Daily personally guided hikes in the Eggental Valley and the Rosengarten-Latemar UNESCO World Heritage area. The valley offers 530km of trails ranging from gentle alpine meadows to challenging mountain routes with multiple mountain huts (Brettljause with speck and bread) along the way. The Ganis private guest shuttle drops guests at trailheads.
Weekly sunrise hike led by son Georg Pichler to above 2,000m altitude. Departs early morning for sunrise views over the Dolomites. A genuinely memorable experience that repeat guests cite specifically.
Daily guided mountain bike and e-bike tours with Ganis guides. Shuttle drops guests at starting points. Ganis is a certified Bikehotel partner.
The Obereggen-Latemar ski area is 4–5km away and part of the Dolomiti Superski network. A free daily Ganis ski shuttle runs from hotel to slopes, returning in the afternoon. The hotel offers ski packages including shuttle and ski pass.
Guided snowshoe excursions and winter hiking in the Eggental area. The Ganis weekly winter programme covers a range of difficulty levels.
