Gasthof Zufriedenheit
Contemporary boutique design layered over 19th-century bones. Light woods, king beds, parquet floors, and pale sage tones throughout. Feels considered rather than corporate — personal welcome notes, macarons on arrival, a living room instead of a lobby bar.

Why It Matters
Holds a Michelin Key 2025 and Gault & Millau Rote Haube — rare accolades for a small hotel-restaurant in a mid-sized German town. The kitchen focuses on Central German and European seasonal cooking, leaning heavily on the Saale-Unstrut wine region next door. Hospitality tradition at this address dates to 1853.
A 19th-century building that reopened in 2017 after a thorough renovation — the result is something subtly modern and surprisingly stylish without losing its Naumburg roots. Fifteen rooms and two maisonette suites sit two minutes on foot from the UNESCO-listed Naumburg Cathedral, on the historic pedestrian street Steinweg. The restaurant has earned a Michelin Key (2025) and a Gault & Millau Rote Haube, making it one of the top dining addresses in Saxony-Anhalt.

How you'll actually spend your days.
The hotel provides rental bikes for exploring Naumburg and the surrounding Saale-Unstrut wine region. Two free rental bikes are included with the Midweek Special package (Sun–Thu arrivals). The flat-to-rolling terrain of the Saale valley makes for excellent cycling through vineyards.
A cosy living room area with books and board games available for guests to borrow. Serves as the de facto lobby bar — a spot for coffee, afternoon tea, or an aperitif when the courtyard isn't in use.
Cathedral admission tickets with audio guide, included in the 'Naumburg Compact' package. The UNESCO-listed Naumburg Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul is a two-minute walk from the hotel.
A fully prepared picnic basket for two, to take out into the Saale-Unstrut vineyards. Contents include cake, freshly made sandwiches, sweet and savoury delicacies in jars, seasonal fruit, mineral water, and a bottle of wine from partner winery Pawis. Available May, August–October daily 1–6pm; April, June & July Mon–Sat 1–6pm.
The hotel has strong partnerships with local wineries including Pawis, Lützkendorf, Hey, and Gussek. Packages include bottles as welcome gifts, wine list curation, and cycling/hiking maps with recommended winery addresses. The region is known as 'the Tuscany of the North.'
