Gen is an 18-room luxury auberge perched in the quiet heights of Gora, one of Hakone's most celebrated hot spring districts. Every single room comes with its own private outdoor bath fed directly from the sodium chloride spring source — no queues, no strangers, just you and the mountain. Fully renovated in 2021 and expanded in 2022, the five-story property blends traditional Japanese architecture with clean contemporary design, and sits roughly 120 metres from Naka-Gora Station on the Hakone Tozan Cable Car.

In mid-August, the famous Hakone Daimonjiyaki fireworks festival is visible directly from guest rooms facing the mountain. The 5th-floor rooms with sky-view decks offer unobstructed views of the pyrotechnics above Myojogatake.
The property runs a complimentary shuttle service to nearby attractions, including the Hakone Open-Air Museum, Hakone Ropeway, and Gora Station. Useful for day trips without having to navigate the cable car system on foot.
Every room has a private outdoor bath fed directly from the sodium chloride natural hot spring source at 56.2°C. Known to be effective for skin, joint, and nerve health. Soak while looking at the mountains, the stars, or the sunrise — depending on what time you're in the water.
Each room comes with a sky watching kit — binoculars, compass, and star chart. The elevated Gora location means minimal light pollution. Best on clear nights from a 5th-floor sky-view deck.
