Gilded is a 17-room boutique hotel in a converted Victorian home on a quiet side street in Newport's historic downtown. Designer Rachel Reider's interiors riff on Rococo and Beaux Arts with ornate mirrors, lacquered surfaces, peacock wallpaper, and gold accents — but the whole thing is played with enough wit that it never tips into pastiche. Complimentary small plates breakfast, a billiards room with a black-and-white lacquered pool table, and a private courtyard with a fire pit are the three reasons guests keep coming back.
