Glance Hotel sits inside a 1950s modernist building designed by architect Italo Gamberini — and that alone sets it apart from virtually every other hotel in Florence. While the rest of the city serves up Renaissance palazzos, AMDB Studio has transformed this Gamberini building into a clean, design-forward space furnished exclusively with pieces by Lema, one of Italy's top design furniture manufacturers. Each floor pays visual tribute to a different Florentine sculpture: think full-wall reproductions of Michelangelo's David, Giambologna's Rape of the Sabines, Ammannati's Neptune, and Baccio Bandinelli's Hercules and Cacus. The 68 rooms run compact (starting at 14 sqm for Comfort), but the Sky Breeze rooftop pool and bar on the sixth floor more than compensates — especially in summer.
