Why It Matters
This is Champneys Spa's first European outpost outside the UK, built into the Amù Beach Club complex. The resort is also the first Iconic Luxury Hotels property in Andalusia — placing it in the same family as Cliveden House and Chewton Glen, with a distinctly Spanish personality crafted by Goddard Littlefair. The Amù Beach Club concept originated in Monaco, making the Marbella location its Spanish debut.
Gran Marbella Resort & Beach Club is a five-star beachfront resort on the quiet stretch of Real de Zaragoza beach, east of Marbella's centre. Part of the Iconic Luxury Hotels portfolio (think Cliveden House and Chewton Glen), it opened in 2024 after an €17 million renovation — and it shows. The interiors, designed by Goddard Littlefair, pull heavily from Moorish heritage: horseshoe arches, zellige tiles, jali windows, hand-thrown ceramics, and earthy terracotta tones throughout. 135 rooms and suites, a Champneys Spa (the brand's first in Europe outside the UK), and the Amù Beach Club round out a property that deliberately favours slow luxury over glitz.
