Book room 304, curated by Olivier Zahm (Purple magazine): thick curtains, erotic black-and-white photography, double shower heads, and Hermès soaps

Why It Matters

Created by André Saraiva — the graffiti artist whose Mr. A character is all over Paris — it was an instant hangout for the fashion and art world when it opened. The BookBar alone draws locals who aren't even staying. The Sunday oysters-and-DJ-set is a genuine neighborhood ritual.

Grand Amour is the bigger, louder sibling of the original Hôtel Amour in Pigalle. Founded by André Saraiva (the Swedish-French graffiti artist behind the mythical Mr. A character) and Thierry Costes, it sits on rue de la Fidélité in the 10th arrondissement — deep in the Faubourg St-Denis neighborhood, a few blocks from Gare de l'Est. The vibe is bohemian-arty-festive: 42 rooms stuffed with collected furniture, erotic photography, signed art, and Italian ceramic tile bathrooms, with a ground-floor restaurant and a secret BookBar behind it. No TV, no telephone. You can reach the front desk by mobile app.
