de L'Océan
Contemporary coastal chic with a genuine family warmth. White tones, clean lines, marine light. Think less chi-chi resort, more confidently edited — the ocean does all the heavy decorating through the floor-to-ceiling windows and private terraces.

Why It Matters
A Michelin- and Tablet Hotels-recognised property with an unmatched position: rooms and restaurant literally set on the rocks of the Côte Sauvage, one of France's most dramatic stretches of Atlantic coastline. The gastronomic restaurant has its own live lobster and shellfish tank, and sources fish daily from local fishing boats. Three generations of the same family. That kind of continuity is rare.
Ten rooms. One wild, rock-bound coastline. That's basically the pitch for Grand Hôtel de l'Océan, a 4-star family hotel perched directly on the Côte Sauvage at Port Lin Beach in Le Croisic. The LOUIS/SAMSON family has run this place for three generations, and it shows — in the care of the rooms, the locally-sourced fish tanks in the restaurant, and the artisanal breakfast spreads. Every single room faces the Atlantic, and the glass-roofed gastronomic restaurant feels like you're dining suspended above the waves.

The Sentier des Douaniers coastal path starts directly from the hotel. The Côte Sauvage stretches 14km along the wild Atlantic shore, with creeks, cliffs, caves and headland viewpoints. No car needed.
Bike routes run along the coast and into nearby Batz-sur-Mer and the salt marshes of Guérande. The hotel area has flat terrain suitable for leisure cycling.
Croisic Golf Club is approximately 10 minutes by car from the hotel. Guests can access the course independently.
Le Croisic's aquarium is approximately 25–30 minutes on foot from the hotel, or a short drive. Good for families.
Port Lin Beach is adjacent to the hotel — a few minutes on foot. Sandy beach with Atlantic swimming.
The Guérande salt marshes are a 15-minute drive away. Several visitor centres offer guided salt marsh experiences and tastings of Label Rouge sel de Guérande.
