Book the Garden Suite for the most private experience — it has its own Jacuzzi, enclosed courtyard and rooftop sun terrace, and was originally the farm stable

Why It Matters

Declared a South African National Monument in 1993. The estate dates to a 1715 land grant to the Bosman family. Bosman's Restaurant (now trading as the Grande Roche Restaurant) held the Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence — the only South African restaurant to earn it — with a cellar of 300+ vintage wines. Listed in both the Michelin Guide and Tablet Hotels.

A 5-star boutique hotel on the site of an 18th-century Cape Dutch farm estate — a declared National Monument — at the foot of Paarl Rock in the Drakenstein valley. Just 28 suites and rooms spread across manicured gardens and working vineyards, about 40 minutes from Cape Town airport. The manor house dates to 1707 and anchors the estate, housing the award-winning restaurant. Rural in feel but polished in delivery — gardens, mountain views, and staff who remember your name.
