Hall
Grand English country-house meets contemporary luxury. Heritage architecture, top-tier food and drink, and serious spa credentials — with enough modern touches (cryotherapy chamber, motorsport simulator, Asian-fusion restaurant) to keep it from feeling stuffy or museum-like.
The Grantley Arms pub is a short walk from the hotel and open to the public — good for a more relaxed lunch without hotel prices
Why It Matters
Holds one Michelin star (Shaun Rankin at Grantley Hall) and Michelin 2 Keys for the hotel itself (2025). Member of Leading Hotels of the World, Virtuoso, Forbes Travel Guide, and AmEx Fine Hotels & Resorts. The Three Graces Spa is genuinely outstanding — an 18-metre Roman-column indoor pool, Nordic ice baths, bespoke snow room, and one of the most comprehensively equipped wellness gyms in the UK. Opened only in 2019, it quickly became one of England's most decorated country-house hotels.
Grantley Hall is a Grade II* listed 17th-century Palladian mansion set on 38 acres in North Yorkshire, opened as a hotel in 2019. The exterior looks exactly as it did three centuries ago; inside, it has been rebuilt to contemporary five-star standard without sacrificing the original oak panelling and historical bones. Forty-seven rooms, five restaurants (one with a Michelin star), three bars, and a genuinely exceptional spa — this is as complete a country house hotel as you'll find anywhere in England.
