House
Maritime bohemian — think a well-traveled whaling captain's home, layered with Indonesian teak chairs, Dutch doors, flame-stitch sofas, antique brass portholes, a mural of 18th-century China tea trade, and Native American ceramics. Rich, dark, and eccentric, but never fussy.

Why It Matters
The only hotel on Nantucket designed by Roman and Williams, and one of the most architecturally significant new builds in the island's historic district in over 75 years. Covered by Architectural Digest, Wallpaper*, Town & Country, and W Magazine at opening. Via Mare is independently lauded as a dining destination.
Greydon House is a 20-room boutique hotel in a renovated 1850s Greek Revival sea captain's house on Broad Street, one block from the Nantucket ferry docks. Design firm Roman and Williams — the team behind the Ace Hotel New York and The Standard High Line — dreamed up every inch of it: custom iron-frame beds, John Robshaw block-printed linens, Waterworks brass fixtures, and hand-painted Portuguese tiles in every bathroom. The result is something rare for Nantucket: a hotel that actually feels like it belongs to the island's whaling-era past without resorting to lobster trap clichés. Via Mare, the Venetian-inspired small-plates restaurant, is open to the public and draws locals and visitors alike.

How you'll actually spend your days.
The hotel curates an art and architecture guide to Nantucket's historic district, including the hotel's own Terry Winters artworks, the Dean Barger China tea trade mural in the bar, and the surrounding whaling-era architecture.
The front desk team — notably manager John — is well-regarded for local island knowledge. They can point guests toward secret beaches, direct them to free island buses, recommend off-the-beaten-path spots, and help plan the day.
Greydon House partners with Captain Mat Barker and his 65-foot teak 1930s sailing yacht, The Blue Peter, for exclusive three-hour charters available to hotel guests. Lunchtime and sunset departure options for groups of two, four, or six. Lobster rolls and rosé included. Book via the front desk or by emailing hello@greydonhouse.com.
