Why It Matters
Houses Europe's largest natural thermal grotto — a millennia-old cave with a hot underground lake at 36°C. Winner of the World Spa Awards for World's Best Thermal Grotto Spa in 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025. The original villa has been in continuous operation as a spa destination since the 1800s.
A 19th-century villa in inland Tuscany, halfway between Florence and Pisa, built on the family estate of poet Giuseppe Giusti. The house is elegant, the park stretches for 16 hectares, and the rooms have been renovated to highlight the history — original frescoes, antique gilding, Carrara marble bathrooms. But the real reason to come is underground. The thermal grotto beneath the property is the largest natural thermal cave in Europe, a 200-meter labyrinth divided into Dante-esque zones called Paradise, Purgatory and Hell, with temperatures ranging from 28°C to 34°C and a crystalline underground lake at the bottom. Giuseppe Verdi famously called it the eighth wonder of the world. Now part of the Marriott Autograph Collection, it has the credibility of a historic spa destination combined with properly modern facilities.

The entry-level room in the renovated villa. Wall decorations echo the park's botanical world — painted trees, wild herbs, flowers — and the fabrics use natural tones matched to the wooden parquet. Carrara marble bathroom. Air conditioning, satellite TV, minibar, and free WiFi throughout.
Deluxe Park View Room
A step up from the classic tier, with more generous sizing and park-facing orientation. Refined, fresh style that reflects the natural surroundings. Luxurious white marble bathroom, some with thermal water on tap.
Grand Deluxe With Terrace
Located in the center of the main building, this room is flooded with light and opens onto a terrace overlooking the historic spa villa facade and gardens. Frescoes of trees, herbs, and flowers cover the walls; cornices and details feature antique gilding. Warm-colored marble bathroom — the hotel describes it as 'a miniature private spa.'

Separate living room and bedroom, offering considerably more space than the standard rooms. Refined and fresh style with refined natural fabrics and high-quality finishes. White marble bathroom. Park or garden views depending on the unit.

The park-facing version of the Junior Suite, with direct views over the private estate. More desirable orientation than the standard Junior Suite, same generous layout with separate living area.
The Giusti Suite
The flagship suite, dedicated to Giuseppe Giusti — the poet and son of the villa's founder who used his verses to help ignite the Italian Risorgimento. Large, refined, with windows overlooking the park. History runs through this room: the same walls that once hosted Garibaldi and Verdi. Separate bedroom and living area, premium marble bathroom.
