Why It Matters

Folegandros's first 5-star hotel, Gundari opened in May 2024 and promptly landed on every hot list worth mentioning. It sits on 80 acres of raw, cliff-edged terrain on the island's southeastern coast — 27 suites and villas, all with private solar-heated infinity pools, designed by Athens studio Block722 using local stone, hand-carved timber, and unpolished marble. The road in is bumpy and the wind can kick up at the pool, but neither will bother you for long once the Aegean view sets in.
