The Angleterre is essentially the more accessible sibling of the adjacent Beau-Rivage Palace — same Sandoz family ownership, but with a thoroughly contemporary interior wrapped inside 18th- and 19th-century stone pavilion shells. Spread across four historic pavilions in Lausanne's Ouchy waterfront neighborhood, the 75-room property sits right on Lake Geneva with the Alps as a backdrop. Lord Byron slept in the Angleterre pavilion in 1816. The Italian restaurant L'Accademia draws both hotel guests and Lausanne locals, and the English garden with its heated outdoor pool is one of the quieter lakeside spots in the city.

Noticeably more space than the Superior, at 30 sqm. Works equally well for leisure or business. Same south-facing orientation with lake or garden views, but the extra 6 sqm makes a genuine difference in comfort. No balcony, but the view compensates.

At 35 sqm, these are the roomiest option and the ones to book if you want to settle in. A proper sitting area sets them apart from the standard rooms, and some come with a terrace. The ones in the Longchamp building have terraces overlooking the garden and lake. Certain Junior Suites have interconnecting bedrooms, making them ideal for families with children. Décor varies by pavilion — each building has a distinct personality.

The entry-level category and the smallest rooms in the house. South-facing, they overlook either the lake or the gardens and are positioned for quiet. Good for a solo business traveler or a couple who won't be spending much time in the room. No balcony.
