Book a sea-view room — even the entry-level Premium Sea (from €175) gives you a direct Atlantic outlook. The moors-facing rooms are cheaper and genuinely peaceful, but the sea views are the whole point.
Why It Matters
Listed on the Michelin Guide and part of The Originals Relais network. Chef Sébastien Duhamel — trained under Pierre Gagnaire and Jérôme Roy — runs the Bistrot Gourmand and holds the Maître Restaurateur title. The Spa by Omnisens uses a Breton natural cosmetics brand. 18 of 31 rooms have direct sea views. Holds the Clef Verte environmental certification.
Hôtel de la Mer sits directly on Plage des Chardons Bleus, one of the wilder stretches of Brittany's Côte des Légendes — a coastline of ancient rock formations, translucent water and not much else for miles. The hotel was fully redesigned in 2024 by Breton architectural firm Wunder, earning a 4-star rating in the process, and the result is a contemporary boutique feel inside a classic seaside building. Think natural materials, soft muted tones, and windows pointing straight at the Atlantic.

The GR34 Douaniers path runs directly along the coast past the hotel. The walk to Phare de Pontusval lighthouse takes around 20 minutes and gives spectacular views of the rocky Côte des Légendes. The hotel can advise on routes and viewpoints.
